“Want your users to fall in love with your designs? Fall in love with your users” – Alexis Brantes
SUMMARY: YouTube Music Key site was to create and foster a community of passionate YouTube music fans to help shape the future of this product by using content to collect feedback and nurture community interaction, ultimately creating an army of advocates for a global launch.
MY ROLE: I designed and collaborated with project managers, social strategist, and technology vendor to help translate user’s goals into features for the community platform. For speed to launch, we were tasked to design and build on existing vendor platform. The biggest challenge faced throughout this project was balancing prebuilt templates with the requests for including customize features. I used wireframes and high-fidelity comps to show and visualize the pros and cons of different approaches.

SUMMARY: Entrepreneur.com site launched in 1996. It has grown into one of the largest and most popular sites serving the small-business community. As a result, the site outgrew the current design. A lot of valuable content was featured on the site, but users were not finding it due to information overload. Better balance and organization was needed between advertising and editorial content.
MY ROLE: I led the creative strategy and redesign for Entrepreneur.com. An information architect and I met with key stakeholders and users to help us understand the needs and pain-points. Together we identified risks and aligned on a potential vision for the site. We worked together to uncover user insights to guide the redesign process. Based on our research findings I crafted the design strategy outlining our approach and direction for the site.

SUMMARY: The DMC site design has evolved over the years to keep pace with expanding content. As a result, the site had outgrown the current design. Content on the site was not being discovered due to labeling and organization.
MY ROLE: The discovery process helped to define milestones, audit the old site, review competitor sites, better understand the client's vision, and begin to delve deeper into the user needs, behaviors and problem areas. I worked with the lead UX designer to research and compile results for the competitors. We used the analysis to identify gaps for us to further explore in the design phase. Our analysis was developed to help identify potential areas for functionality improvements, but our main focus was identifying user needs to better improve the site.
